‘An American Trilogy’ is a popular song written by country songwriter Mickey Newbury. In fact, Newbury recorded the song himself and achieved chart success.
As a result, Newbury was eventually inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The youngest person, as a matter of fact, to receive the honour at the time.
Moreover, the song was recorded by Elvis Presley in 1972. It then became a regular feature of his concert performances.
